    Breast Implants And Their Incisions

    Breast Implants And Their Incisions

For most women that are going to have breast augmentation procedures the one main worry is where the incision is going to be placed. At Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery there are many different options and depending on the breast augmentation procedure that you are having done Dr. Kim can consult with you about the different incision areas that are common during this surgery.

For the benefit of our readers, we wanted to quickly go over the different incision areas for breast augmentation surgery so that you have a quick reference to each.

    Transaxillary Incision

This incision is one that is made in the transax or armpit. The incision is made in the folds of the skin of the armpit.

    Inframammary Incision

This incision is made in the crease or fold where the breast meets the chest.

    Periareolar Incision

This particular incision is made around the outline of the areola.

    TUBA Incision

Lastly, the TUBA incision is made within the navel or belly button.

Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery is skilled and experienced in each and every one of these procedures. During your consultation with Dr. Kim, he will go over the incision point that will be best for you and your particular breast augmentation surgery.

The Anatomy Of A Breast Implant (Silicone Vs. Saline)

Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery felt that it was important to give our readers a little bit more information about breast implants and the two different types that are available.

The first piece of information that might be of interest to anyone considering breast implants is to know that there are two types of fillers for the implants: silicone and saline, but that they actual ’shell’ of the implant is always made from silicone. To be more precise, they are made from cured strands of silicone and small amounts of other materials.

The filler of the breast implant is what is referred to when speaking about silicone or saline implants. Here at Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery we use both saline and silicone implants depending on your initial consultation with Dr. Kim. He will go over the benefits of each and which is a good fit for you and your body type as well as other factors like size, shape, and placement.

There is a distinct advantage that saline implants have over silicone and that is the fact that if the implant is ruptured saline will be dissolved by the body, silicone is not. Although this may seem like a huge plus, you have to also keep in mind that saline implants are more likely to show ripples than silicone.

Both of these breast implant options are approved by the FDA for use. In order to ensure that you are choosing the best implant for your desired goals, please contact Dr. Kim at Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery to schedule a consultation.

    Liposuction and Lipodissolve

Recently, a new way of getting rid of excess fat (that would otherwise have been liposuctioned out) has come about. Although it is experimental there are a few that believe this new medical technology is the wave of future liposuction procedures.

Lipodissolve is the procedures name and it involves a series of injections that are meant to ’melt’ away small deposits of fat. Although it sounds like a completely safe procedure the problem with Lipodissolve is that there is no standard ingredient list. What does this mean? It means that for each doctor the ingredients could be different, making this procedure somewhat less trustworthy then it appears to be.

Another problem is that since the fat is not taken out of the body, where does it go? There are many theories on this subject.

Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery does not practice Lipodissolve on our patients. We believe in using only procedures that are approved by the FDA. Dr. Kim has performed many different liposuction procedures and always has great results and satisfied patients.

    Panniculectomy

Abdominoplasty is a common procedure that is performed by many different plastic surgeons and is meant to tighten the muscles in the stomach area. Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery performs this procedure on many different patients each year and is highly experienced in this area. With that in mind, its always good to learn about different procedures that can be done (sometimes during the same surgery) in addition to your abdominoplasty surgery.

A panniculectomy is a procedure that is commonly done at the same time an abdominoplasty is taking place. This surgery is performed to remove excess fat and skin below the belly button and around the back.

A candidate for panniculectomy would be one that usually suffers from obesity. These patients have fat that around the hips, back, and sometimes even extends down to the knees.

You can find out more information about panniculectomies from any plastic surgeon. Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery is one of the resources that you can use to find out more about any plastic surgery procedure.

    Rhinoplasty

The cost of rhinoplasty can differ all across the nation. Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery does not have set prices for our rhinoplasty procedures and neither do/should any other plastic surgery office.

    Why is this?

There are many different factors that go into rhinoplasty pricing. The surgeon’s skill, the difficulty of the procedure, the amount of changes that are being made to the nose, and even the geographical area that the surgery is being done in all has an effect on the price.

With all this in mind, rhinoplasty usually is in the range of $3,000 – $8,000.

What is covered in the cost? Is this just for the surgeon? Will I have to pay extra?

The fee that the plastic surgeon tells you usually comprises of three different areas: the anesthesia, the surgery, and the use of the facility that the surgery takes place at, with a bulk of the cost coming from the surgeons fees. If there are other fees associated with the procedure or something that is not covered in the cost that the plastic surgeon tells you then they should also cover that in their initial consultation with you.

Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery is one of the most reasonably priced plastic surgery offices in the Los Angeles area and Dr. Kim is extremely experienced in all areas of plastic surgery. For more information on Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery’s pricing you can contact Dr. Kim and set up a time to come in a visit us.

    Injectable Fillers

    BOTOX.

This is probably one of the most widely used injectable fillers on the market today. Although there are many other fillers that are available most people are uneducated on the differences between them. Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery wants to make sure that you understand what ingredients are in each of these fillers as well as their primary uses.

This will assist you in making the decision as to which injectable filler that you are going to use; of course, your plastic surgeon will also offer you helpful advice and information about which filler would work best for the problem areas that you are looking at.

There are a numerous amount of ingredients that are used in injectable fillers. A few that you will hear about are:

    – Botulinum Toxin-Based

    – Human-Based Collagen

    – Bovine-Based Collagen

    – Fat Transfer

    – Hyaluronic Acid-Based

    – Synthetic Poly-L-Lactic Acid

Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery and Dr. Kim can effectively explain to you the differences in each of these ingredients as well as the advantages and uses for each.

    Anesthesia

When it comes to plastic surgery procedures, anesthesia is one of the major concerns that patients have. This could be because the patients has never been under the effects of anesthesia or that they are just not comfortable with the fact that they will be unconscious while a serious procedure is being performed on their body.

In order to calm some of your fears about plastic surgery and being under anesthesia, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery is offering to give you some basic information about anesthesia and the different types that are available.

Going from the lightest to the heaviest anesthesia:

Local Anesthesia – just like the name says it is a local and used only in the area that the surgery is taking place. This anesthesia does not put you asleep and you will be awake for the entire procedure. This usually comes in the form of an injection or ointment.

Sedating – To be sedated the patient is given a solution that is injected intravenously. Although there are different levels of sedation the general feeling is that you will be awake but sleepy and most likely not remember the surgical procedure at all.

Regional – Produces almost the same results as sedation but in a different way. A block is put up against the surrounding nerves in the area.

General – This is the most common anesthesia used in major plastic surgery. During the surgery using this anesthesia you will be asleep and you will not remember anything afterwards. It can be injected intravenously or inhaled.

After being underneath anesthesia for any period of time you will have to recover from the effects before you are allowed to leave. This means being placed in a recovery area for a nurse to observe you while you recover; the heavier the anesthesia, the longer it takes to recover. Your plastic surgeon will give you a set of instructions specifically suited for you in order to go through proper recovery.

We talked before about the cost of plastic surgery and how one of the factors what the geographic location that the plastic surgeon was in. For most, the trip to the plastic surgeons office will be a simple and easy trip which they can then pair with an actual vacation to the area. Most patients don’t think about the recovery time that is going to be needed afterwards. This is very important to think about if you are having a larger procedure done.

Recovery is the key to making sure that you plastic surgery comes out correctly. With this being said, some procedures will be difficult to handle if you are flying, carrying heavy bags, etc.

If you are going to be traveling to your plastic surgeon, make sure that you mention that in your initial consultation to make sure that it is feasible for you to do. If it is not wise to travel after your plastic surgery procedure then you’ll either have to find a surgeon near you or end up staying a bit longer then you may have initially planned.

Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery has been working to allow our readers to learn more about the plastic surgery industry as well as give them more information about different plastic surgery procedures that they might be interested in.

Before all of this takes place, it is best to have a plastic surgeon in mind when thinking about having a procedure done. But what should you be looking for in a plastic surgeon? What certifications and credentials are important?

You may find yourself in a plastic surgeon’s office and notice/or are told that they are a plastic surgeon. Although this does mean a lot, two surgeons that are ’’ are not the same.

All certifying boards require different amounts of training and experienced in order to be deemed ’certified’. This means that you not only have to look at if the surgeon is certified but, depending on the surgical procedure that you are having done, who they were certified by.

Your Plastic Surgery And Your Budget

When trying to establish a reasonable cost of your plastic surgery, it is important to keep in mind the geographical location in which your plastic surgeon is located and the plastic surgery will take place. In more recent years, it has actually become more and more popular to travel out of your local area for your plastic surgeon and plastic surgery procedures.

Aside from the cost, you may also be getting a better quality by going out of your area. At Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery, we have served patients from a nationwide broad span. Los Angeles has become a well known area for plastic surgery, and Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery is one of the most trusted places to seek plastic surgery.

If you are currently living outside of the local Los Angeles or Beverly Hills area, and are seeking quality cost appropriate plastic surgery, then you should consider Dr. Kim and Beverly Hill Plastic Surgery for your procedure.

By traveling for your surgery, you will not only obtain the cost and quality you desire, but you can also look at it as a vacation. You do need to keep in mind when considering this option that you will need to allot time for post surgery recovery. Flying home a day or two after surgery, many times, is not an option. Please do not take this part lightly, as your recovery is a key part to your surgery and it’s outcome.

It is important to mention any possibility of travel prior to your initial consultation, as this may not be your most feasible means of doing things. If you can not afford to stay for recovery time, you will more than likely need to seek a plastic surgeon closer to home.
